Dat sum Crazy stuff right here....

Dang man, you have some mad keyboard skillz with this song. Reminds me of a rabid squirrel spazzing out on a synthesizer. Yet through all that chaos, a melody comes out true and strong.

Some suggestions for further inspiration in the genre of crazy-ass techno is a fellow NGer called Dimrain47, his songs Operation: Evolution (ID: 109650) and Buzztone Symphony (ID:183180) sound a lot like this, and could give you some extra boosts of awesomeness.

Certainly Very Interesting

First off, I'm glad to see you're applying your crazy piano skills to synthisizers, I think you'd make a great soloist!

I'm loving the constant beat throughout the song, but it got lost in the sixteenth notes between 1:07 and 2:01. Then it breaks out into this crazy beat. As it had been said, that could use a bit more work, but who am I to tell you that?

The new ideas at the end add a refreshing twist to the song, but it's too late; by now we've sat through the same beat wih various solos for three minutes (but that's what jazz is about, and who am I to diss jazz? you ever play jazz?)

All around, it's a very solid song, with only bits and pieces perfectionists like you and I can notice.

You get lost in the sixteenths ostinato? That's kind of strange... I'm not sure I can see how, but I suppose that everyone hears it a little differently. As for 2:01, I did some more work on it and actually I'm happy with the current version with the synthesized whale call.

I understand what you mean about the "same beat", not sure about "various solos" though... I only wrote one. The rest of that is all supposed to be in an ambient/chillout style, so I tried to keep it simple... Also I love jazz. Check out "Dancing Angels" and "Fruit Sandwich" from the album "Night Grooves Vol. 1 - the best of Narada jazz". Those two are probably my favourite tunes, and that album was done by some serious all-stars.

[Get Ready To Dance {durn}]

Quite Funky, I'd say...

If you set out to create good dance music, you sir, have achieved your goal. I could definitely hear this sort of music in a club or such, as you have mastered the dance beat. The beat in this is constant, yet not repetitive, which is a tricky thing to do. It's nice and long, with a melody that is both rhythmically, and melodically interesting, though it does repeat a bit, the way you present it makes it all right to do that. Also, the many filters and occasional breakdowns keep you listening, entranced, and dancing.

One thing I'd like to give you extra points for, is that you have incorporated some funk elements in this song, which is extremely rare for songs in this genre. Usually, you hear a big bass, and a plunky melody line with a lot of special effects and things going around in the background, but you have broken through that, and added a little sense of funk in the melody, that is complimented greatly by the background melody, and effects.

The reason I'm giving you a 9/10, is that some of the breakdowns are very out of place. You get this great funk groove going, and then it stops and quiets down into a more timid segment. This is a bit out of place, and it messes up the highly proclaimed groove you have captured.

Something I would add to this would be to expand on the funk. You already have a great bass, and some memorable synths, but why not expand on the guitar a bit? maybe add some horn punches in with the melody. Go for a bass solo. Be creative, because after listening to this song, I know you are.

Well thank you kindly, oobee. :) I tried to keep the drums interesting by changing up the hi-hat loops every 16 bars with occasional cuts and clap flourishes. :d

And aye, I do love the funk. It's my favourite kinda music to dance to cause I can just let loose and dance with great energy. That and really good breaks & d'n'b. :D

I hear ya about the timing of my breakdown as it's not entirely suited to the energy of the track but I do love me some trancey bridges. :d hehe, no worries though, I'll be changing it up in my next track. :)

Horn is something I've not used in one of my clubbier tracks. It would be a nice complimentary instrument as I already try to mimic them with synths in a way.

[Reflections >Dubstep<]

My Thoughts While Listening....

My First time listening to a "Dubstep" song....

intro: Nice, not simple, cliché, piano went very well in there, little percussion thing reminded me of, "Moar Cowbell"

Then Bass comes in. it's different, but very nice. I've listened to a lot of Techno, and I have never heard a bass like this. With the sweet, smooth melody over it, it has a nice, sort or balanced contrast.

1:37: HOLY FUCK! It sounded like some sort of monstrous demon came and is viciously ripping apart the sweet little techno bunny, with all its screams and guttural roars auto-tuned and distorted to an oblivion! It totally surprised me, and as my ears were being torn apart by the massive bass, I felt a sense of enjoyment, and that is a great achievement.

Then the Demon settles down, and it's a beautiful contrast between the "Civilized" chorus synth, and the demonic bass, and it's so unique, it's blowing my freaking mind....

2:25 I'm in a state of sort of shock/euphoria after the bass attack, and the melody coming back at 2:46 just puts the icing on the cake..

3:10 it's musically foreshadowing something, and I'm expecting another bass attack, but it seemed like a techno angel came down, and turned the bass demon into a spazzing, schizophrenic bass tiger thing, and then left, for the tale to be repeated over again.

After this, I listened to it again. And again. And again. Through this, I realized I had found a true masterpiece. Then I downloaded it. 5/5 10/10

Dude, this is AWESOME!! It's rare to find an artist that doesn't give a shit about audience AND writes good techno music! This is real good stuff here, and all you noobies better learn that it's this shit that keeps the audio portal at it's kick-ass level of awesomeness!

At first, it kinda reminded me of the music from SHIFT 3, but then it got a whole lot crazier and awesomer! but how the hell did you do this without a MIDI keyboard?

Your best EVER

I think when artists like you and Reasoner kind of stray from your usual ambiance, and do a real emotional piano-only piece, that's when your creativity comes out, and we get the pleasure of listening to your true talent here on newgrounds. This piece is sad, yet beautiful, and hopeful at the end, and simply amazing to listen to. The raw emotion that is set into the music here brings tears to my eyes, and joy to my heart. I wish there were more pieces on Newgrounds like this, but until then, I will have to listen to this one over and over again, until I reach Nirvana.
